Over 50? Not Allowed!!

I read an article that said there were 50 things no woman over 50 should own. I’m in my 60s and I disagree with some of these. For the ones listed below, imagine a loud “raspberry sound” along with my written words.

Novelty Pillows

I LOVE novelty pillows! One of my favorites has several cats on the front with the words “Whoa! Where’d all these cats come from?” It is proudly displayed on the old rocker in the front room. I have a friend who is older than I am, and she displays the pillow her mom gave her that says “If it’s not one thing, it’s your mother!”

Piggy Banks

And they didn’t mean just ones in the shape of a pig. Believe me, if I had the room, I would have a HUGE Hello Kitty bank displayed on my counter! Right next to my kitty treat container that meows when you raise the lid. We store batteries in it.

Vinyl Tablecloth

Obviously, the writer of the article NEVER has kids at the table, only well-behaved tidy grown-ups. I’ll admit, if I’m having a special meal such as for Thanksgiving or Christmas, I might bring out the old lace tablecloth. Otherwise, it’s vinyl all the way! Who cares??? I don’t expect the Queen/Martha Stewart/Emily Post to be dining with me any time soon. Maybe if Dame Edna was attending, I MIGHT pull out all the stops just for a hoot.

Red Plastic Cups

NOBODY messes with my Red Solo Cups!! What else are ya gonna use that you can write your name on at a party/BBQ/whatever?? The article said using real glassware doesn’t take that much effort to wash afterwards. HA! And if the plastic cup gets dropped on the table, it won’t break and whatever is spilled won’t hurt the table because of the VINYL TABLECLOTH!

Slogan Shirts

Oh man…I prefer shirts that SAY something! And has pictures! Usually something dealing with cats, yes, but that’s just the way I roll. And I proudly wear Christian themed shirts. And the ones I EARN by donating blood. Which is something you should do every chance you can. You DO saves lives!

Sports Team Blanket

I have never really given a (fill in the blank) about sports. I do enjoy Super Bowl for the commercials, I enjoy the World Series somewhat, I love the Olympics and are very much for Team America…but as far as team “stuff”…meh. BUT I think the folks that have their team blankets on the couch for cozy evenings is just fine. And if I was chilly, I would gladly drape a team blanket over my legs with no problem.
