Playing With Your Food

There are some very cute/fun things you can do with food. I’m sure some of them are quite tasty as well as being funny. Some take a LOT of time to execute, and don’t seem worth it when it’s eaten so quickly. But that’s just me. I can make good food, but it sure won’t be picture-worthy. Maybe a mashed potato mountain with gravy lava. Most of these pictures had no recipe.

Ghost Cake

I have a LOT of respect for the professionals who design and make gorgeous cakes. This one isn’t bad to make at home. The candle eyes made from egg shells and candles is a neat idea. This one at least had a real recipe.

Hot Dog “Roast” (and something else)

It doesn’t say what’s in the middle. I doubt that it’s baked beans. The topping might be shredded cheese. The red stuff might be ketchup or pimento pieces. At least you know the broccoli is healthy.

Chicken Pie

A LOT of effort for something that is basically a chicken potpie. I don’t know if the chicken head is real, but those feet certainly look like the real thing. The crust looks like it might be tasty.

Sea Creatures

My guess is the whale (?) is made from a zucchini and the shark is a cucumber. At least when the meal is over, you can take these decorations and actually make something from them to eat.

Hard Boiled Egg Shenanigans

I don’t know what the first two creatures are supposed to be. The penguin is cute, though. And they are completely edible. I can’t imagine taking the time to do a whole platter of these.

Frogs

I can’t guess what these are made from. The lily pads might be from raw potatoes. What the yellow frogs are I’ve no idea. It has to be something firm enough to carve. Squash?

?????

NO CLUE about this one. Actual frogs/toads? Whatever, it’s a HARD PASS! There’s not enough alcohol to get me to try one of these. I’d just watch someone else eat one and wait for the reaction…What’s YOUR guess???

Squirrel Songs

I saw a meme on Facebook that had a picture of this squirrel and the words: “Any song is better if you replace the word girl with squirrel. Go ahead, try it. And I did! Here are some of the results. And feel free to sing along…

To all the squirrels I’ve loved before…Willie Nelson

Squirrels just want to have fun...Cyndi Lauper

Young squirrel, get out of my mind. My love for you is way out of line…Gary Puckett & The Union Gap

I guess you’d say, what can make me feel this way? My squirrel, my squirrel, my squirrel. Talkin’ ‘bout my squirrel…The Temptations

Brown Eyed Squirrel…Van Morrison

Uptown Squirrel…Billy Joel

Material Squirrel…Madonna

American Squirrel…Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers

*There are a LOT more. But now let’s get REALLY weird, and replace the word world with squirrel and see how THAT comes out…

We Are The Squirrels…USA for Africa

What a Wonderful Squirrel…Louis Armstrong

Everybody Wants to Rule the Squirrels…Tears For Fears

Wild Squirrel…Cat Stevens

I’d like to teach the Squirrels to sing, in perfect harmony…the New Seekers (and you thought it was just a Coke commercial!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ljg9UhAnN2o

A Whole New Squirrel from the movie Alladin

So…now it’s YOUR turn…

Weird Facts About Me

AKA –things you never wanted to know about me and could not care less about…

Favorite planet:

Earth. It’s where I keep all my stuff. Second favorite is Jupiter. What’s not to like? It’s huge and has that cool “red spot.”

Favorite pasta shape:

Bow ties. They make me happy. They are also wonderful for crafting angel wings.

Favorite outdoor temp:

73° -- maybe a little more if there’s a nice breeze.

Completely neutral on:

Whole wheat or cracked wheat bread.

Favorite ocean:

Pacific. Looks so cool with a sunset.

Donut holes or donuts:

Both. Enough of the holes and you have the same amount as a donut.

What’s my “jam”:

Cats, obvi… also blueberry.

Theme song:

This changes ALL THE TIME. Right now it’s On Top Of The World by Imagine Dragons. The one that ALWAYS makes me smile and feel good, though, is Light & Day/Reach for the Sun by The Polyphonic Spree. There is no more joyous song than that one.

Wanna know anything else about me? Just ask. Keep it clean.

Random Thought:

Why do spiders have to be the thing inside houses? Why can't it be hamsters? Why can't I open a drawer and see a tiny hamster eating a carrot?
