OK…I’m Old! – Part 4

 

Film Canisters!! These were SO MUCH FUN to play with! You could put so many little treasures in these things. Paper clips, a few marbles, balloons. You could even put together a mini survival kit, sewing kit, first aid kit…These were mainly for my kids, not me. I came from the square flash-bulb era. But since my kids are in their 40s now, that DOES make me old…

 

 

This was a great little show from Canada on Nickelodeon that I watched everyday with the kids. Loved their skits. Les Lye and Abby Hagyard were the only adult members of the cast. Les was AWESOME in whatever skit he was in. In the ‘family skits’ with Les and Abby as the parents, Abby ALWAYS wore bright yellow rubber dish washing gloves, even sitting at the dinner table. My favorite line in those scenes was Les saying “Don’t encourage your mother!”

 

 

Tower Records was THE place to go for music!! Got probably 90% of my albums from that place. So many good memories!

 

 

WE HAD THIS SAME COASTER SET!!! And we used them! After awhile the cork absorbed so much moisture it separated from the wood. We still used them. Finally put them in the Salvation Army box many years ago.

 

 

These came out in the 70s and I loved them. I still do, although now they are Maxwell House and come in all plastic containers. I have the orange flavor every morning when I make my slimfast coffee. Great way to start the day.

MM didn’t say much this time, so I thought I’d add some pics to go with it…

Eggs. What if something hatches out of an ordinary looking egg? What if the mysterious egg creature imprints on me and I’m forced to raise it as my own?

Who do you want to meet most in the world 

I wish I could meet Dwayne the Rock Johnson so I could throw a cheese slice on his bald head and run away. (I couldn’t find a pic for this to save my life, so I drew this one…)

Rugs 

 

 

Do you need total darkness to fall asleep 

I need total darkness in order to fall asleep or else I’ll see the little leprechaun men that skitter in my desk drawers. They organize my pencils for me but they’ll cause mayhem if they’re seen.

 

 

Haphazard Miscellany – Feb 2024

 

Never really figured out a permanent name for this category of oddball stuff, so I’ll just label it as a random collection and slap a fancy name on it and be done with it. Like it or leave it, makes me no nevermind…

 

DIY projects

 

 I love crafting and DIY stuff, but some of it is just plain crap. Like this chandelier made from the bottoms of 2 liter bottles. I can’t imagine going to the trouble of making and assembling this. And keeping it dust-free? Fuhgeddaboudit!

 

 

Yes, this is a wall hanging made from paper chains. Might be a cute craft for a kindergartner to make for their room. Once it gets all yucky and dusty, you can throw it out and make another. But this was in an actual article about “Cool DIY projects for under $50.” It extolled the wonderful way to do an inexpensive accent wall. (face palm)

 

 

Wine glasses made from old Barbie bodies…no words…just…no words.

 

 

OK, I have to admit this one made me chuckle. Wine bottle nativity. You can have as much fun emptying the bottles as you can in assembling the scene. 

 

 

Strictly for a kid’s bathroom shower. Could be switched out for other types of heads as well. Cute idea.

 

 

I have seen SO MANY of these kinds of embellished mirrors/picture frames with found objects as well as with specific themes. Sarah has made several mirror/picture frames with sea shells that are quite lovely. This one ain’t.
