A New Year’s Chat With Myrtle

I introduced you all to my muse, Myrtle many years ago. Myrtle is my muse in different fields, mainly art and writing. She’s pretty quiet for the most part. When she thinks I have been idle for too long in those fields she will poke me with a pen or pencil to get the words going, or poke me with a marker, pair of scissors or a glue stick for the art. I know I have been ignoring her for some time and decided to sit down with her for a chat.

Lately I have been watching art reels on Facebook and subscribed to art/craft notices from Pinterest. I have saved SO MANY videos from FB and also following most of the artists there. I’ve also saved SO MANY pictures and directions and websites from Pinterest. I did finally pick one design for the Christmas cards I wanted to make and send.

I’ve been trying to get into the ATC realm too. Many pictures, reels, websites etc etc etc. I haven’t gotten a large enough supply together to really start trading. I’ve made a few to send to penpals and that’s about it.

So…back to Myrtle…She looked me dead in the eye and said: “So. When are you going to get off your fat butt (she didn’t use the word ‘butt’) and get some of this stuff (she didn’t use the word ‘stuff’) organized and actually start on some of these projects?”

I hung my head and mumbled “But I still need to get my craft room organized…”

After she snorted and almost choked laughing and stubbed out her cigarette (I know, it’s a filthy habit but at least Myrtle stopped drinking) she gently took my hand and whispered:

“If not now, when? If not you, who?”

Then she repeated, a little louder: “If Not Now, When? If Not You, Who? IF NOT NOW, WHEN? IF NOT YOU, WHO??”

Then she lit another cigarette and walked out the door. Before she closed the door, she looked back and said: “By the way, you’re welcome for the prompt I gave you for this blog.”

Myrtle is not to be trifled with…
