It’s Like This, Cat (1963)

his dad, which causes an asthma attack for his mom. He takes in a stray cat,
which leads to friendships with other people, and finally an understanding with
his dad.

A very cute kid’s book.
Elephi is a cat with a high I.Q. He’s lonely, and when he sees a small car out
on the street covered with snow, he tries to save it bring it home as a friend.
He succeeds in this, much to the surprise of his owners.

Beethoven’s Cat/Wiggie
Wins the West (1988/1999) by Elizabeth McHugh
A couple of sweet little
books about a large cat named Ludwig (aka Wiggie). In the first book, he
believes he is descended from Beethoven’s cat. After a while, he believes he is
being possessed by Beethoven himself. In the second book, the family moves to
Idaho, which Wiggie believes is still like the Old West. He wonders how he can
save his family from all the gunslingers and Indians.

Siberian Gold (1927) by

What a great romp of an
adventure! In the early years of the 20th century, America has a
gold concession in Siberia. Engineer Stephen Wyld is sent out to establish a
mine and has to battle the corrupt local government as well as suspicious
Russians.
