There
are so many little tests going around on FB. Knowledge quizzes, personality,
qualities, who would be in jail with you…that sort of thing. Some I indulge in,
some I don’t. This one really caught my interest and I wish I’d written down my
responses the first time I did it.
I
decided to do it again, and this time try to make a story…
There
was a vast expanse of sand, white sand stretching out in all directions. It was
daytime, but there was no indication of a sun. Just light. Perfectly calm and
still. The sand was not disturbed by any wind or breeze.
In
the exact center of this desert was a cube. It was 10 feet tall and slightly
opaque, as if filled with mist. Leaning against the cube on one side was a
crystal ladder. It reached almost to the top of the cube. If climbed, one could
easily gain access to the top and look out over the entire desert.
In
the distance, a white horse could be seen. It was gracefully cantering toward
the cube, and its hooves barely made prints in the sand. When it reached the
cube, it stopped on the side opposite the ladder. There was a large rose bush
there, full of wine-red roses in full bloom. There were no thorns anywhere on
the bush, and the horse began eating the roses and leaves.
The
sunless light began to dim, and there was a heavy feeling in the air. A slight
wind started up and the sand finally began to shift a bit. The wind became
stronger and the darkness increased. The horse kept eating roses and leaves.
As
the light receded completely, the mist inside the cube began to glow. The horse
stopped eating and watched the cube. As a warm rain began falling, the wind
increased even more and blew the ladder down, causing it to shatter. Everywhere
a piece of crystal landed on the sand, a rose bush sprang up. One very large
piece of crystal hit the side of the cube, knocking a large hole in it.
The
horse walked around to the hole and entered the cube. The hole closed and the
cube disappeared.
