Random Ramblings March 2016

I read where a second season is planned for Wayward Pines. I loved the series until the ending. Which sucked big-time. But all things considered that had gone on in the series, it wasn’t too surprising. Just depressing. Then I read the books on which the series was based. LOVED the books! Great read! The ending was open, but showed hope and promise. I can’t imagine how they are going to continue the TV show when one of the most important figures was killed and the whole premise was skewed. Don’t know as I want to even give it a look.

In February there were a LOT of commercials for a life-size Teddy Bear you could get for your loved one. I think the one on TV was $100 or so. Marv and I would just laugh. I’m not too high maintenance, and I am happy with a box of Russel Stover chocs or a Whitman Sampler. You know how many boxes of those you can get for $100?? A LOT! Or maybe a case or two of the variety pack of Redd’s Apple Ale. That’s all it takes. Now, a life-size Kitty Cat is another story…

I looked at what was in the goodie bags for the Oscar nominees. Among the usual trips and hotel stays and what not were some interesting things:
1. $5530 worth of plastic surgery. What if you don’t need any at the moment? Can that be re-gifted to someone else? What if you only need $4000 worth? Do you get the rest as a gift card to Starbuck’s or something? Cash back, maybe?
2. $275 worth of “designer toilet paper.” Just how many rolls is that? What ply? You can get the absolute best that Walmart has to offer for a HECKUVA lot less and get enough to supply all your powder room needs for a long time to come.
3. And then there was Chapstick. SIX WHOLE DOLLARS for that one! You can get a 3-pack at Walmart for less than $3, so does that mean you get 6 of them? I would bet that it’s an extra special $6 tube for ONE.
Must be nice.

Now, about the Cialis ad with the two bathtubs…WHY?? What was the thinking behind that one? A hot tub I can understand. At least you have the room for some “splashing around” that you don’t have in a tub. And if “splashing around” is what you’re going for, why TWO tubs? And who wants to think about older folks “splashing around” anyway?

OK. That’s the kind of stuff that’s been floating around in my brain lately.

  1. Is the bear from Japan? It looks like a Japanese commercial. And why do they give things away to people who can actually afford to to them in the first place. But I am in the mood for some Girlscout Cookies.
