Mayday! Mayday! Part 3

May 15 – Chocolate Chip Day. The perfect thing to add to almost any recipe where a sweet would be good. Cookies, pancakes, cakes, ice cream. And they even come in different flavors around holiday time.

May 16 – Wear Purple For Peace Day. Don’t know why “purple” and not some other color. I’ve always found the color blue to be very peaceful. Orange antagonizes me. Don’t wear orange!

May 17 – Pack Rat Day. I think most of us can identify with the statement, “I have too much stuff.” Where does it all come from? How did it pile up so fast? I do NOT watch any kind of hoarder show because it depresses the heck out of me, but I know I could easily get rid of a LOT and not miss it. But not books! I’m keeping my books!

May 18 – Visit Your Relatives Day. Marv and I come from small families. What few there were, were scattered. Too far away to visit easily. I wish my kids and my brother lived closer. I would love to be able to really visit more. Skype is just NOT the same!

May 19 – Frog Jumping Jubilee Day. I love frogs. I think they’re cute. I doubt that Pharaoh and the other Egyptians felt that way when it was raining down frogs, but otherwise I think they’re cute. Same with toads. Cute. Don’t judge me!

May 20 – Eliza Doolittle Day. My Fair Lady was an awesome movie! A real classic. I can watch that numerous times. Loved the music. I was crushed when I learned that Audrey Hepburn did NOT do the singing. But I forgive her. She was a great Eliza.

May 21 – National Memo Day. This needs a day of its own? Why? Take a memo and get back to me. Send it out in triplicate.

Mayday! Mayday! Part 2

May 8 – No Socks Day. Seems about right, since the days are getting warmer. There comes a time in the season when I absolutely can’t stand wearing socks and shoes anymore. So off they come and it’s sandals and flip-flops until Fall.

May 9 – Going along with the previous entry, there are those socks that vanish without warning and are never seen again. Hungry washer/dryer? Pack elves? Black hole? WHO KNOWS?????

May 10 – Clean Up Your Room Day. As a kid, there was a never ending battle between me and my mom about this. My room was never as bad as this, and I NEVER had leftover food or dishes. But it was pretty bad. Sorry, Mom.

May 11 – Twilight Zone Day. One of the greatest shows ever. Even the reruns are enjoyable. And Rod Serling was the perfect host.

May 12 – Limerick Day. I decided to rise above the expected and NOT do a tasteless joke. Instead, here is a pretty picture from Limerick, Ireland.

May 13 – Leprechaun Day. There were some pretty scary pics of this little guy on the Internet. I chose this one so the kids wouldn’t be scared. Not that they read this anyway. Or their parents. OR MY OWN FAMILY…sorry, sorry. Marv does read my blog most of the time…

May 14 – Dance Like a Chicken Day. How on earth did this dance EVER become a “tradition” at a wedding reception?? Makes no sense! But it IS fun to watch after people have had more than their fair share of the bubbly…

Mayday! Mayday! Part 1

It’s been some time since I’ve done a month of weird/interesting things to note or celebrate. The last time I did it, I posted a pic a day on Facebook. That’s a bit more dedication than I want to commit to right now, so I will do a week at a time here on my blog. That way, you will be informed ahead of time and can get your party stuff ready…

May 1 – Mother Goose Day. I actually have a VERY old copy of this book. I loved the illustrations when I was a child and memorized most of the verses.

May 2 – Fire Day. Since we’re heading into fire season around these parts, I thought it would be wise to choose a pic of a nice friendly camp fire. Roast a few marshmallows, but be sure that fire is OUT before you leave…

May 3 – Lumpy Rug Day. I couldn’t find ANYTHING regarding this one. Hence the pic with the cat. Just be sure you check before trying to flatten that rug. There might be a cat in there…

May 4 – Candied Orange Peel Day. I LOVE marmalade and the little bits of peel in it. Just like Paddington.

May 5 – Hoagie Day. What’s not to like? Yum! Except: no onions, mayo, tomato, avocado. Just meat, cheese, lettuce, pickle, a tad of mustard and some butter. And chips on the side.

May 6 – Beverage Day. Choose your favorite! Keep hydrated! And don’t drive.

May 7 – International Tuba Day. OK. Listen to a few Souza marches. Maybe watch The Music Man again. Great movie!
