“So What?”

 

This was a flash fiction I wrote a very long time ago when in a very strange mood. I did quite a few of these kinds of things. I would sit on the couch and just start writing random words or sentences and try to connect them later.

So What?

 

A man sat in his car, reading the newspaper.

A woman walked past with a poodle on a leash.

A bird flew over them carrying a peanut in its beak.

A little boy dropped his ice cream cone and cried. 

A girl cradled a kitten in her arms.

A policeman wrote a ticket and put it under the windshield-wiper of an illegally parked car.

The sun set. The moon rose. A new day started. And nobody cared!

Total word count: 79, putting this in the micro fiction category.

 

It’s Ugly, But I Want It – part 2

 

Another bunch of stuff that other people turned up their noses at but I like.

 

 I don’t know if this is an actual residence or a place to buy coffee and mugs. There is a sign that says Farm Maiden Coffee. I tried to find info about it, but struck out. I would NOT live in a place like this but I think it’s unique and wonderful and it makes me smile.

 

 This would look good in my cabin amongst the pine trees. I’d probably change the counter top. I love that tub!

 

 

This was actually in an article about Bad Architecture, but I think it’s wonderful. You can find other buildings like this around the web. I love them all. Which leads to this one:

 

 I would absolutely live in this! It reminds me of the “doodle” pictures we’d do in elementary school. This would look so cool outlined all over with lights at Christmas.

 

I love the idea of this, but would never have it in my kitchen. Cleaning it would be a nightmare. But it looks cool.

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams

I love the entire series of books. The British TV series that was done in 1981 was fun and I enjoyed it, but the books are far better. The 2005 movie was good too. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Again, though, the books are better. Before seeing the movie, Sarah wanted to read the books. I have them all, of course, so I gave them to her to read. SHE HATED THE MOVIE. I am so proud of her discerning taste! Even though I enjoyed the movie. She’s a purist.

 

In Cold Blood by Truman Capote

I had heard about the movie done in 1967, but didn’t see it until it was on TV many years later. By then I had already read the book. Wow. It really disturbed me that this horrific thing was done and it was something that had actually happened.

 

Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë

Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë

I enjoyed Jane Eyre much more than Wuthering Heights. Jane Eyre had a rough go in life, but at least there was a happy ending. I thought Wuthering Heights was rather depressing. I’ve seen movies done of both and enjoyed them. 

 

The Thorn Birds by Colleen McCullough

I read the book before seeing the TV series. Loved the book. I thought the TV series was well done, but of course it couldn’t contain everything in the book or it would be too long. I still preferred the book.

 

Plays by Wm Shakespeare

Romeo and Juliet

Had to read this in junior high. Everybody knows the story. I’ve never seen any movie of it.

Much Ado About Nothing

I enjoyed reading this, but LOVED the 1973 TV movie done with Sam Waterston as Benedick. It was set in the time of Teddy Roosevelt and even included some Keystone Kops. The 1993 movie with Kenneth Branagh was awesome also.

 

A Midsummer Night’s Dream

This is probably my favorite of Shakespeare’s plays. I’ve read it many times and have seen several movie adaptations of it. Loved them all.
