Shut Up And Take My Money!

There are SO many fun things you can buy on the Internet. I’m sure a lot of it is just for the novelty of it and doesn’t get used that much. Gag gifts, decorations that sit on the shelf for a while before going into the Salvation Army box, weird shoes that aren’t comfortable AT ALL but you just HAD to get them…unlike my Puking Kitty Gravy Boat that I DID USE one Thanksgiving, just because I had to do it. It now looks at me from the China cabinet because I promised I would never use it for that purpose again…BUT I DIGRESS…

Bedside table/pet bed combo

NO PET WILL USE THIS!! But it’s SO CUTE!! Our dog Molly did sleep in her basket, as did my parent’s dog Renee in hers…but I’ve NEVER had a cat that has complied with a special basket/bed/whatever that has been lovingly provided. Unless maybe you had a delicate crystal figuring resting in it that you didn’t want destroyed…then the cat would definitely lay on it and destroy it. Amazon has these. Depending on the size you want, they run from $260-$500.

Jack Torrance sculpture from The Shining

I would SO want this on a couple of shelves amongst my books. This might go on my wish list on Amazon. $22.

Homer Simpson sponge holder

I would love this by the kitchen sink. $20 from Etsy is way too much to spend, though. But if someone were to give it to me, I would be VERY appreciative…

One More Chapter/Go To Bed coin

This is cute as all get-out. It’s supposed to help you decide if you want to keep reading “one more chapter” or put the book down, turn off the light and go to sleep! But serious readers know this is ridiculous…we’re going to read until dawn or our eyeballs fall out or whatever…$15 from a company called Out Of Print.

Coin Stealer Cat Bank

I have threatened to get one of these for years. This will go on my Amazon wish list as well. $13.

Dinner Decision Dice

These are available at several places online. I think Etsy had the best price at about $13. But it would be so easy to just take a regular kid’s block and put the choices on the sides. The one I saw had Burgers, Tacos, Chinese, Chicken, Subs and Pizza. Cute idea.

EYE KWIT!!

I’m giving up on feeling grieved when I see words spelled wrong, or when grammar is stomped into the ground. Yes, I laugh at the memes regarding “their” “they’re” and “there” and have not shared really funny memes that are spelled incorrectly. But I will no longer be a grammar nazi. And yes, I deliberately did not capitalize that. So if I post a funny meme and there are flaws in the spelling/grammar DO NOT point that out! I already know!

Apparently they no longer teach cursive OR spelling in school. Kids are entirely dependent on spell check. Texting negates the need for correct spelling or even complete words. So I give up. I figure if you can get your point across, fine. I will inwardly groan and not say anything. The most recent event that set me off was passing by Foster Freeze and reading their sign about pumpkin pie shakes being available again. The sign said “THEIR BACK!”

I know that written language has changed through the years. I’ve seen letters written in the time of Henry VIII that had some words spelled differently each time they were written. They didn’t have dictionaries back then. I’ve already accepted that I will never be able to play a game of Scrabble with my granddaughter. She’s smart and is a good story writer, but can’t spell worth a darn.

SO…

As I’ve threatened more than once, I will write the next part of this blog phonetically… or should I say “fonetticly”… (I’ll throw in a little text shorthand as well, for fun)

Win I was in furst grayd i had trubble with wat was cald fonics. It tuk a long time b4 i cud conect sertin leters, vowls and words 2gether. Reding a book for hom werk was hard. At som point it all clikt and I cud reed! After that, i cudnt be stopt.

~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~

Interestingly enough, it was a bit difficult typing this and having to NOT use spell check!

So their ya go. Peece owt.

It’s Ugly, But I Want It

There are a lot of articles about houses, rooms, home decorations or clothing that are considered ugly, tasteless or down-right objectionable IN SOMEONE ELSES OPINION. And a lot of them warrant that opinion. However, I kinda like some of ‘em. Here are a few of my choices. And I think everyone knows by now that you click on the picture to get a full size view.

OK. I will agree this one is a heinous crime as far as style and color go…yikes! And the dark wood isn’t my favorite, but if this were in an old house that was big enough to warrant a room you could call “The Library” then I’d leave the wood alone. The red/plaid couch and wall however, makes my eyes bleed. No plaid, a lighter color palette in the blue spectrum and the skirting would go, revealing drawers for storage. The reading lamps I’d change as well. But I LOVE the idea of a special reading area surrounded by floor to ceiling books. It would also be a nice place to take a little nap.

I don’t know why this patio was dissed. I like it. A bit heavy on the plants, making it a bit claustrophobic maybe. The article said the ceiling was vinyl wallpaper, which I’m sure could be done with something else, but I like the design.

I LOVE THIS!! I might chose a different, lighter pattern and I don’t know what they used to cover this, but I really enjoy decoupage furniture like this. Haven’t a clue where I’d put this in my house, but I would find a place!

I see nothing wrong with this. I would remove the center metal thing on the headboard though. Maybe inlay a tile there. Otherwise, I think it’s fine like it is. I know Chip and Joanna would approve…

This house should absolutely NOT be on the shame list. I love it! It’s gorgeous! I can’t imagine why anyone wouldn’t love to live here. I admit it’s on the dark side, but I still think it’s beautiful. It would look stellar decorated for Halloween.
